From the Desk of Moss Hill's Mayor

Re: A Turn of Events

There's a farewell party at the Second Street Pub tonight. Carissa sets sail for Hy Brasil tomorrow. Ah, that beautiful country! Part of me wishes I were going with her, but Cameron is sneaking in a camera for my sake. They did not allow pictures when I traveled with you, and although I respect the ancient rules, I have heard that pictures of Hy Brasil become portals to that magical island.

I have to see if that's true.

I know you'll understand. You did say rules were meant to be bent if the logic behind them was broken. I don't think it's logical to keep those pictures out of Moss Hill once we sign a treaty with the Tuatha de Danann. Carissa may need to be able to travel there quickly in the future and, well, it may come in handy in general. You did tell me to take initiative.

Enough rambling - I feel bad enough not making it tonight to say good-bye. Carissa would understand if I could only tell her what I'm really doing as mayor of Moss Hill. I'm not sure Maren will be so forgiving about me missing her best friend's going-away bash, but she'll forgive me - I think. Anyway, I felt it was my duty to write to you first.

There's something you need to know.

The Elder Council in Vale handed off the Ocean Reaper to the royal vessel for transport back to Tir-Na-Nog. I advised against moving him. They insist their magic restraining cuffs will hold, but I am less than certain. He's even more powerful over the water.

Raven Corvus volunteered to travel with them, but the crew won't hear of it. The king considers the reaper's crime a personal betrayal and wants his men to oversee the prisoner's transport themselves. I know it's not my place to question the King of Sidhe and Elves, but something smells fishy.

I've just come from Jane's, who is allowing the use of an Everly Exports ship for Raven to follow the king's ship in case anything goes wrong. She'll travel close behind the king's ship so she can act quickly if the reaper attempts to escape. Raven arranged added protection for Carissa's ship, too, but she didn't even tell me what that means.

I might not see them before they leave, but I wish Carissa and Cameron good luck on their journey. I have one more task to complete, the one you asked me to do, before they return. I hope they make it back without any trouble. In the meantime, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well here.

I guess we'll find out one way or another soon enough.
