Fairy Rings?

A circle of mushrooms is said to be a fairy ring, a portal to the realm of faeries. Some appeared out of no where near the author's home.

So, this is strange. At least, I think so. I go for a walk in the mornings sometime around the park in my neighborhood. The other day, on one of these walks, I was surprised to see mushrooms everywhere. They seemed to have sprouted overnight in the park, on neighbor's lawns - everywhere.

I live in Arizona. It's a pretty dry climate, but we've had some rain lately, which isn't unusual at this time of year. Apparently, there is such a thing as mushroom season in Arizona, though I did not know that because I've never seen anything like this before.

Fairy Circle

You might be wondering what the big deal is with mushrooms but they're often associated with the realm of the fae. Mushrooms tend to grow in circles. These are known as fairy rings and associated with all sorts of myths and legends as portals to the fairy/faerie realm.

Mushrooms Everywhere

I know it's just a coincidence, but given how I just started writing a series on faeries and fairy rings sprouted all over my neighborhood overnight, who's to say there isn't something magical going on?

Fairy Rings or just regular mushroom season? You decide.
